Regular backups protect you from mistakes, hacks, and failed updates. Plesk includes a built-in Backup Manager — here is how to use it.

Create a Backup Now

  1. Log in to Plesk and go to Websites & Domains → your domain → Backup & Restore (or Backup Manager).
  2. Click Back Up.
  3. Choose what to include — for a full site backup select configuration and content, including mail and databases.
  4. Store it in the server repository, then click OK. Large sites take a few minutes.

Download a Backup to Your Computer

Open Backup & Restore, click the backup file, and choose Download. Keep a copy off the server — a backup on the same machine does not help if the server itself fails.

Schedule Automatic Backups

  1. In Backup & Restore, open Schedule.
  2. Enable scheduled backups and pick a frequency — daily or weekly depending on how often your site changes.
  3. Set how many backups to keep, then save.

Restore From a Backup

  1. Go to Backup & Restore and select the backup you want.
  2. Click Restore and choose what to bring back (files, databases, mail, or everything).
  3. Confirm — existing data will be overwritten by the backup contents.

Good Practice

  • Always take a manual backup before big changes: CMS updates, plugin installs, or design edits.
  • Keep at least one recent copy downloaded to your own computer or cloud storage.
  • Test that you know how to restore before you need it.
